[民藝のしらべ】第2弾。[Mingei no Shirabe] Part 2.

2023年6月23日〜25日、多津衛民芸館でマルチメディア・パフォーマンスの第2弾が開催された。2022年に私がお手伝いした常設展のリニューアルをベースに、マクドナルド玲さんのナレーションとダンス、横山晴子さんのマリンバとパーカッション、曽我一朗さんの照明、そして私の音響・映像によるパフォーマンス。吉川徹館長は脚本のアドバイザーを務めた。高解像度のスライド、生演奏、演劇、音響効果によるディープ・ルッキングの要素を取り入れたこのパフォーマンスは、美術館のコレクションを伝えるユニークで先鋭的な方法を提示した。この経験は、文化センターがどのようにメッセージを伝え、ストーリーを共有できるかという新しい可能性の幅を広げてくれた。

June 23-25 2023, The second installment of this multi media performance was held at The Tatsue Mingei Kan. Based on the renewal of the permanent collections exhibition which I helped with in 2022, the performance included narration and dances by Rei McDonald, marimba and percussion by Haruko Yokoyama, lighting by Ichiro Soga and Audio/Visuals by myself. Museum Director Toru Yoshikawa served as advisor to the script. Incorporating elements of deep looking via hi-resolution slides, live music, theatre and sound effects, the performance presented a unique and radical way to communicate the collection of the museum. The experience opened up for me a range of new possibilities for how a cultural centre can convey messages and share stories.
